Fire brick is a refractory brick, used for lining the
interior of the fireplace, which is
capable of sustaining intense heat without fusion.
It is usually made of fire clay or of siliceous
material.
Fire brick differs from common brick in that they are
special
bricks that withstand extreme temperatures. Because they
are also a masonry product, they can also store and
control the heat that will be released into the living
area of the home. They are placed in a structure where
needed and the greatest amount of heat is expected.
Firebrick is not prone to expansion and contraction
which helps to minimize cracking under extreme heat
conditions.
We offer two colors of fire brick, in red and beige, with
tumbled or square edged finishes.
There are
three standard sizes for the fire brick:
- Fulls - 9" x 4" x 2"
- Splits - 9" x 4" x 1 14"
- Soaps - 9" x 2" x 1 1/4"
The most popular patterns for installing fire brick are:
Basket Weave, Herringbone, Running Bond and Stack Bond.
