Process

Isokern products are made with volcanic pumice extracted from the Hekla Volcano in Iceland.

Pumice stone is a natural material extracted from the core of the volcano and is the primary component of the Isokern makeup. Pumice does not expand or contract with temperature change, reducing the possibility of cracking and structural damage that may occur with other products. Pumice is a natural insulator, having the ability to maintain the temperature of flue gases while not enabling heat to be transmitted to the outside. Lastly, pumice is lightweight in make up allowing for easier installations than other alternatives.

Once the pumice is extracted from its source it is shipped to Denmark where it is formed into modular fireplace and chimney components. This process takes place in an efficient, quality controlled environment and operates under strict testing guidelines. The result of the process is an environmentally safe, efficient and modular fireplace and chimney system.
