Isokern products are made with volcanic pumice extracted from the Hekla Volcano in Iceland.

Pumice stone is a natural material that is the result of what is produced from the Magma Core; pyroplasty.  Once this cools, the remains, or coal bed, is the pure clean result that is exposed to intense molten heat.  Pumice does not expand or contract with temperature change, reducing the possibility of cracking and structural damage that may occur with other building products.  Pumice is a natural insulator in fireplaces and furnaces reflecting the energy produced while having the ability to maintain constant temperature of flue gases in chimneys and not allowing heat to transmit to the exterior.  Lastly, the finished pumice is lightweight in make-up resulting in 80% of the finished products for Isokern components.

Once pumice is extracted from its source, it is shipped to one of two of our manufacturing plant in Chesapeake, Virginia or Karup, Denmark, where it is pressed under high pressure into modular fireplace and chimney components.  This process takes place in an efficient state-of-the-art environment and operates under strict quality controlled testing guidelines.  The result of the process is an environmentally safe, efficient and modular fireplace and chimney system.
